เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 2 ธันวาคม 2567 เวลา 10.00-11.00 น. ดร.ไพฑูรย์ วราเดชสถิตวงศ์ นักวิจัยประจำศูนย์แห่งความเป็นเลิศด้านความเชื่อมโยงแห่งมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ (Thammasat University Center of Excellence in Connectivity) และ Dr. Srabani Roy Choudhury ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านญี่ปุ่นศึกษาจาก School of International Studies มหาวิทยาลัย Jawaharlal Nehru ประเทศอินเดีย ได้เข้าพบกับคุณรุจิกร แสงจันทร์ อธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ ณ กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองและหารือเกี่ยวกับอนาคตของการเชื่อมโยงระหว่างอินเดีย ไทย และกัมพูชา

การหารือครั้งนี้จัดขึ้นภายใต้กรอบโครงการวิจัยของ Dr. Srabani เรื่อง Japan’s Indo-Pacific Connectivity Agenda: Energising the Bay of Bengal Region ที่มุ่งศึกษาแนวทางการพัฒนาความร่วมมือและการเชื่อมต่อในภูมิภาคอินโด-แปซิฟิก โดยเฉพาะในภูมิภาคอ่าวเบงกอล โครงการนี้ชูแนวคิดใหม่ที่เน้น “ห่วงโซ่คุณค่า” (Value Chain Approach) ซึ่งจะช่วยเสริมสร้างความเชื่อมโยงทางเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศต่าง ๆ ในภูมิภาค

ประเทศญี่ปุ่นในฐานะผู้สนับสนุนหลักของโครงการได้ให้ความสำคัญกับการพัฒนาการเชื่อมต่อในภูมิภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของอินเดียและบังกลาเทศ และมีเป้าหมายที่จะขยายขอบเขตความเชื่อมโยงไปยังประเทศที่ไม่มีทางออกสู่ทะเลในภูมิภาค เพื่อสร้างเศรษฐกิจที่เชื่อมโยงและมั่งคั่ง ตัวอย่างที่น่าสนใจของความสำเร็จคือการสร้างห่วงโซ่คุณค่าระหว่างไทยและกัมพูชา

ทั้งนี้ โครงการวิจัยยังมุ่งเน้นการรวบรวมข้อมูลและถอดบทเรียนจากกรณีศึกษาของระเบียงเศรษฐกิจตอนใต้ (Southern Economic Corridor: SEC) เพื่อสร้างแนวทางพัฒนาความเชื่อมโยงในอนาคต ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงความพยายามร่วมกันของนักวิจัย นักวิชาการ และหน่วยงานภาครัฐในการสร้างอนาคตของภูมิภาคอินโด-แปซิฟิกที่เชื่อมโยงและก้าวหน้า พร้อมทั้งเปิดโอกาสในการเสริมสร้างเศรษฐกิจและความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศในระดับภูมิภาคอย่างยั่งยืน

On Monday, December 2, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Dr. Paitoon Waradetsathitwong, a researcher at the Thammasat University Center of Excellence in Connectivity, and Dr. Srabani Roy Choudhury, a specialist in Japanese studies from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, met with Mr. Rujikorn Saengchan, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting aimed to exchange perspectives and discuss the future of connectivity among India, Thailand, and Cambodia.

This discussion was part of Dr. Srabani’s research project, titled Japan’s Indo-Pacific Connectivity Agenda: Energising the Bay of Bengal Region, which focuses on studying collaborative development and connectivity strategies in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly the Bay of Bengal area. The project introduces a novel concept emphasizing the “Value Chain Approach,” which aims to strengthen economic connectivity among countries in the region.

Japan, as the project’s principal sponsor, prioritizes enhancing connectivity in northeastern India and Bangladesh, with an ambition to extend these linkages to landlocked countries in the region. The ultimate goal is to establish a connected and prosperous regional economy. A notable example of success in this regard is the creation of a value chain between Thailand and Cambodia. Additionally, the research project emphasizes collecting data and deriving lessons from case studies of the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC) to develop future connectivity strategies. This collaboration reflects the collective efforts of researchers, academics, and government agencies to build a more interconnected and progressive Indo-Pacific region, while also fostering sustainable regional economic growth and international cooperation.
